A short-handed Muskegon Big Reds soccer team fell 8-0 while visiting Mona Shores on Saturday afternoon.
Muskegon was only able to field 9 players during the 1st half, as Mona Shores dominated possession.
“I told the team to work hard to fill the gaps and they could. Play with possession to help slow the play when possible, but we’re basically in for a defensive battle.” commented Muskegon Coach Jeff Holmes.
Things would get worse for Muskegon, when another player suffered and injury, leaving an 8 player team on the field for the Big Reds.
Muskegon gave up 5 goals in the first half, and 3 goals in the 2nd half, ending the game at the midpoint of the 2nd half.
“I proud of the work the guys put in today. It’s been the story of our season so far, and it’s a frustrating situation (playing shorthanded), they’re staying positive about it.”
Muskegon (0-5) visits Ottawa Hills in non-conference action on Monday, September 17th.
