The Muskegon High School boys basketball team hit the road for a second straight Saturday, this time to the east side of the state.
The Big Reds took care of business, beating host Belleville, 56-47, in the Fastbreak Invitational.
It was Muskegon’s fifth straight win, improving its overall record to 9-3. Since the Big Reds’ 63-59 home overtime loss to Reeths-Puffer on Jan. 15, they’ve won by an average of 27.6 points per contest.
At Belleville (7-5), Muskegon led 29-24 at halftime and built a 45-31 advantage through three quarters.
Vernon Nash III led the Big Reds once again with 15 points, four steals and three rebounds. Billie Roberts had 12 points and six rebounds, while Zy’Kier Davis provided a big lift with 10 points and eight rebounds. Eonte Tornes added nine points and three boards.
Andrew Leamy hit four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 22 points for Belleville, while Connor Bush scored 10.
Muskegon is off until Friday, when it hosts Kenowa Hills. Then, on Saturday, the Big Reds participate in one of the biggest events in the state in the fifth annual Redhawk Showcase at Grand Rapids Union, taking on Grand Blanc at 4:30 p.m.
