Meet Recap

The Big Reds traveled cross town for their much anticipated conference match against the Knights of Kenowa Hills. The Big Reds jumped out to a 33 to 19 lead with five matches left. Then the Knights powered back to take a 36 to 33 lead heading into the final match of the dual. The Big Reds fell short in the contest, eventually losing 42 to 33. The Big Reds attempted to bounce back in their next dual of the night against the host team, the Muskegon Catholic Central Crusaders. Once again, the Big Reds amassed a 28 to 18 lead before succumbing to a comeback. The Crusaders downed the Big Reds 36 to 28. The Big Reds fought hard and both contests where decided by the final matches of each dual. But the match of the night, was a rematch of last year’s city final, between Muskegon’s Dovell Wilson and Catholic Central’s Brock Johnson. The Catholic Central heavyweight avenged his last year’s loss with a second period pin of Wilson. This adds fuel to when these two juggernauts collide next week at the 2017 GMAA City meet.

The Big Reds will be in action this weekend when they travel to compete in the 41st Sparta Invitational in Sparta, MI.
