Game Recap

The Muskegon Big Reds dropped their season finale to visiting Reeths Puffer 6-0 in soccer action on Thursday evening. RP opened the scoring early, knocking in a loose ball in front of the net nearly 1 minute into the game. They would tack on 2 more first half goals in the same fashion.
“Micah made some really great initial saves on tough shots, but we weren’t giving him a lot of help clearing those balls out afterwards” said Muskegon Coach Jeff Holmes.
RP continued to find the goal in the 2nd half, scoring on a set piece and 2 breakaways.
“They caught us a couple of times with a high line, playing flat” continued Coach Holmes, “they had a lot of speed up front, and that’s been an issue for us at times. The frustrating part was our inability to finish ourselves. We hit the post and had some good looks at goal that just didn’t in the quality we needed, our finishing let us down tonight.”
Muskegon will host Fremont in the opening round of the district tournament on Monday.
